Defense
New Orleans Saints – Salaries: DraftKings (DK) – 2900 (5.8% of cap), FanDuel (FD) – 4800 (8% of cap). The Saints’ salary ranks them 12th/5th on DK/FD, respectively, making them a better relative value on DK.
The betting line with the Bucs (3-6) has the game total at 50.5 points (2nd highest on the board) with the Saints (7-2) as -5.5 point road favorites. The Saints’ implied team total is currently at 28 points and the Bucs are currently at 22.5 points.
Against Atlanta last week, the Saints’ defense logged 1 sack, 1 pick, and allowed 26 points. At Tampa Bay last week, the Cardinals’ defense recorded 4 sacks, 2 picks, 1 fumble recovery, and allowed 30 points, good for a DST9 finish.
Tampa Bay throws up the most interceptions with 14, allows the most giveaways with 21, gives up the 3rd most sacks with 34, and allows the 6th most fantasy points to opposing defenses. New Orleans’ defense ranks 12th (tied) in sacks with 25 and 9th in fantasy points scored.
New Orleans, as near two touchdown home favorites last week, got smoked by Atlanta in the largest upset of the season to date. A nice bounce-back spot is on tap for the Saints, assuming they show up this week.
Carolina Panthers – Salaries: DraftKings (DK) – 3000 (6% of cap), FanDuel (FD) – 3700 (6.17% of cap). The Panthers’ salary ranks them 10th/13th on DK/FD, respectively.
The betting line with the Falcons (2-7) has the game total at 49.5 points with the Panthers (5-4) as -5.5 point home favorites. The Panther’ implied team total is currently at 27.5 points and the Falcons are currently at 22 points.
At Green Bay last week, the Panthers’ defense logged 2 sacks and gave up 24 points.
The Falcons toss up the 5th (tied) most picks with 10, give up the 6th (tied) most turnovers with 16, the 13th (tied) most sacks with 22, and the 8th most fantasy points to opposing defenses. The Panthers’ defense ranks 1st in sacks (36), 5th in QB hits (64), and 5th in fantasy points/gm.
The Panthers should find themselves in a scenario where Atlanta should be passing a lot if the implied positive-script holds. This matchup looks solid enough.
New York Jets – Salaries: DraftKings (DK) – 3100 (6.2% of cap), FanDuel (FD) – 4500 (7.5% of cap). The Jets’ salary ranks them 8th/7th on DK/FD, respectively.
Against the Giants last week, the Jets’ defense logged 6 sacks, 2 fumbles recoveries with a TD, and gave up 27 points, good for a DST7 finish. The Jets held Saquon Barkley to 1 rushing yard on 13 carries. The Bills’ defense registered 4 sacks and held Washington to 9 points in week 9.
The betting line with Washington (1-8) has the game total at 38 points (lowest on the board) with the Jets (2-7) as +1 point road dogs. The Jets’ implied team total is currently at 18.5 points and Washington is currently at 19.5 points. Washington is coming off their bye.
Washington gives up the 9 most interceptions (tied) with 9, the 9th most sacks with 26, and the 5th most fantasy points to opposing defenses. The Jets’ defense ranks 10th in fantasy points scored.
Rookie QB Dwayne Haskins will be making his second start. Expect DC Williams to dial up a ton of blitz pressures for Haskins this week.
