NFL Week 16 DFS Defense Value Picks

We’ll provide some details and insights on some of the potential top daily fantasy defense/special team (DST) value plays for week 16.

Salary ranks are based on the main-slate Sunday only (11 games).

Betting lines are as of the time of this writing.

Defense

Dallas Cowboys – Salaries: DraftKings (DK) – 2600 (5.2% of cap), FanDuel (FD) – 3600 (6% of cap). The Cowboys’ salary ranks them 15th/16th on DK/FD, respectively.

The betting line with the Eagles (7-7) has the game total at 46 points with the Cowboys (7-7) as -2.5 point road favorites. The Cowboys implied team total is currently at 24.25 points and the Eagles are currently at 21.75 points.

At the Los Angeles Rams last week, the Cowboys’ defense logged 2 sacks, 1 pick, and allowed 21 points. At Philadelphia last week, Washington’s defense recorded 2 sacks, 1 fumble recovery, and allowed 31 points.

The Eagles rank 13th in fantasy points allowed to opposing defenses while the Cowboys’ defense ranks 20th in DST scoring. The Cowboys’ DST scored 15 fantasy points against the Eagles in their week 7 meeting.

The Eagles again barely won against Washington last week as the Eagles were trailing into the final minute. The Eagles remain thin due to injury at WR and the health advantage would appear to favor the Cowboys. This should essentially be like a playoff game for both teams as the winner will likely take the NFC East.

Atlanta Falcons – Salaries: DraftKings (DK) – 3200 (6.4% of cap), FanDuel (FD) – 4400 (7.3% of cap). The Falcons’ salary ranks them 6th/5th on DK/FD.

The betting line with the Jaguars (5-9) has the game total at 46.5 points with the Falcons (5-9) as -7 point home favorites. The Falcons’ implied team total is currently at 26.75 points and the Jaguars are currently at 19.75 points.

At San Francisco last week, the Falcons recorded 1 sack, 2 fumble recoveries with one returned for a TD, and gave up 22 points, good for a DST7 finish. Against the Jaguars, the Raiders recorded 2 sacks and gave up 20 points.

The Jaguars give up the 9th most fantasy points to opposing defenses and the Falcons have managed 12.5 fantasy points/gm the past two weeks against similar/harder competition. The Falcons may be worth a shot as home favorites against a weak offensive team.

Seattle Seahawks – Salaries: DraftKings (DK) – 3700 (7.4% of cap), FanDuel (FD) – 4400 (7.3% of cap). The Seahawks’ salary ranks them 3rd/5th on DK/FD, respectively.

The betting line with the Cardinals (4-9-1) has the game total at 50.5 points with the Seahawks (11-3) as -9.5 point home favorites. The Seahawks’ implied team total is currently at 30 points and the Cardinals are currently at 20.5 points.

At Carolina last week, the Seahawks recorded 1 sack, 3 picks, and gave up 24 points. At Arizona last week, the Browns logged 1 sack and gave up 38 points.

The Cardinals give up the 11th most fantasy points to opposing defenses and have given up an average of 12 fantasy points/gm over their past four. The Seahawks’ DST has averaged 11.8 fantasy points/gm over their past five and put up 16 fantasy points on the Cardinals in their week 4 meeting.

The Seahawks have everything to play for with a division title and a first round bye still in play.
