This year’s Hall of Fame class includes LB Junior Seau, RB Jerome Bettis, DE/LB Charles Haley, WR Tim Brown, G Will Shields, C Mick Tingelhoff, GM Ron Wolf and executive Bill Polian.

The late Seau was the only first ballot enshrinee in this year’s class and that choice was obvious as he was one of the greatest inside linebackers in NFL history. Seau’s resume includes 8 All-Pro selections, 12 Pro Bowls, and an NFL defensive player of the year award over his 20 year career.

Bettis, known as “The Bus”, is the NFL’s sixth leading rusher of all-time. Bettis has 2 All-Pro selections, 6 Pro Bowls, and a Super Bowl ring.

Haley played for the San Francisco 49ers and Dallas Cowboys of which during this time became a 5 time Super Bowl champion. Haley also has 2 All-Pro selections and 5 Pro Bowls.

Brown, the long time Raider great, is the NFL’s sixth leading receiver of all-time. Brown has 9 Pro Bowls and still currently holds eight NFL records, despite the lack of QB talent he had to play with during his career.

Shields spent his entire career with the Chiefs and is one of the most consistent and durable players of all-time. Shields notched 2 All-Pro selections and 12 consecutive Pro Bowls in his fourteen year career.

Tingelhoff, a Veterans Committee selection, ranks second in years played as well as starts amongst all HOFers.

Wolf helped create the Raiders dynasty of the 70’s and the Super Bowl Champion team in 1983. As the Packer’s GM, brought in HOFers Brett Favre and Reggie White.

Polian, a 2 time NFL Executive of the Year recipient, helped build/turn around three different teams into playoff contenders.

Congratulations to all the new entrants to Canton. All well deserved.
