Quarterback:

Brian Hoyer (HOU):

Hoyer, in relief of the injured/benched Ryan Mallett, put up a 24/31, 312, 2:1 line against Indianapolis. Hoyer’s points of 23.88/20.88 ranked 8th/9th for QBs on DraftKings (DK) and FanDuel (FD), respectively. His salary cost per point efficiency ranked him in the top 5 on both sites.

Hoyer has a solid matchup against Jacksonville with a pick ’em line and a game total at 43 points. Jacksonville’s Defense vs. Position (DvP) is ranked 21st and 26th overall.

Hoyer’s salary price ranks him 25th on both DK and FD. With the musical-chairs scenario seemingly over in Houston, and with a healthy Foster back, Hoyer offers a decent floor/medium-ceiling play.

Andy Dalton (CIN):

Dalton had a solid line of 30/44, 331, 2:1, and 7-18-1 rush line against Seattle for the win. Dalton ranked 4th in fantasy scoring on both DK and FD. Dalton’s price per point efficiency ranked him in the top 4 on both sites.

Dalton has a nice matchup against Buffalo who just got rolled by Josh McCown for 457 yards and 3 total TDs. Buffalo ranks 23rd in DvP and 18th overall. Cincinnati is currently a -3.5 favorite with a 42.5 point game total.

Dalton’s salary ranks him 14th/16th on FD/DK. Dalton is currently the 2nd highest scoring QB through 5 weeks and also has Pro Football Focus’ 2nd highest QB rating. PFF also grades Cincinnati with the #1 overall passing offense.

Philip Rivers (SD):

Rivers stays in this space after putting up a 35/48, 365, 2:1 line against Pittsburgh. Rivers ranked 7th for QBs in scoring on both DK and FD. His salary cost per point ranked him 9th on both sites.

Rivers has an unfavorable matchup at Green Bay who rank 5th in DvP and 3rd overall, but he does have a favorable game script as +10 dogs with the 3rd highest game total at 50.5. Green Bay’s rankings through 5 weeks reflect not having yet been truly tested. Green Bay’s toughest offensive matchup thus far was against a Chiefs team with Jamaal Charles. Even with Charles, the Chiefs weren’t going to scare anyone. San Diego’s run game could very likely be non-existent against the Packers, and all facets of the offense runs through Rivers.

Rivers’ attempts could exceed 50 as a lot of quick hit passes will be necessary to avoid pressure/punishment from a Green Bay unit that is 2nd in the league in sacks (20). Rivers’ is tied for 5th in attempts and is 1st in completions. Rivers’ salary price ranks him 12th/15th on DK/FD.

Running Back:

Shane Vereen (NYG):

Vereen’s week 5 against San Francisco had him 2nd in team touches with a 5-24-0 rush line, and 8-86-1 on 8 targets. Vereen ranked 7th in fantasy scoring on both DK and FD. His cost per point scored ranked him 4th for FD and DK.

Philadelphia is a -4 point favorite with defensive ranks at 4th in DvP and 14th overall. The DvP rank of 4th is more of an issue for Rashad Jennings, as Vereen does his damage in the air.

Vereen’s salary ranks him 34th/37th on DK/FD. Vereen’s game script could work out very well since both Odell Beckham Jr. and Reuben Randle are dealing with hamstring injuries. Worst case scenario, both WRs survive the night, which leaves Vereen with a decent floor for his cost. Best case scenario, one or both receivers play decoy/re-aggravate leaving Vereen with a nice ceiling as well. For his cheap cost, he may be worth a flier. The Giants’ not named Odell and Roob could have sneaky appeal on Monday Night.

Theo Riddick (DET):

Riddick put up a receiving line of 10-53-1 on 13 targets (2nd on team) against Arizona. Riddick’s scoring ranked 10th/11th on DK/FD. His cost per point scored efficiency ranked him 2nd/6th for DK/FD.

Detroit hosts Chicago as -3 point favorites with a game total at 43. Chicago ranks 13th in DvP and 12th overall.

Riddick’s salary ranks him 56th on DK and 63rd on FD at near bottom-barreled cost. Riddick is the 2nd highest non-QB avg. team scorer (1 pt. behind Calvin Johnson) and by far the most cost efficient Detroit player. Riddick ranks 1st in the league in targets to RBs (36) and receptions (24), and 4th in receiving yards for RBs (228).

Wide Receiver:

Leonard Hankerson (ATL):

Hankerson missed some time to injury last week and only registered a 1-13-0 line on 4 targets. Matt Ryan was horrid last week but should bounce back against New Orleans.

Hankerson is an interesting play purely due to circumstances with Julio Jones (hamstring). Julio is going to be a game-time decision on a short week. Even if he is green-lit to go, it would be surprising if he were to make it through the game. Worst case scenario, he makes it through the game, ineffectively, as he did last week, leaving Hankerson at his usual WR2. Best case scenario, Julio is a non-factor and HankTime is now the WR1.

Hankerson’s salary ranks him 38th/41st on FD/DK as a cheap option with a decent floor and potentially a medium-high ceiling if Julio is a non-factor. New Orleans ranks 14th in DvP and 31st overall. Atlanta is a -3 point favorite with the 2nd highest game total at 51. Look for a bounce-back week from HankTime and Ryan.

Allen Hurns (JAC):

Hurns put up a line of 5-116-1 on 6 targets against Tampa Bay. Hurns’ scoring ranked him 6th on both DK and FD. His price per point efficiency ranked him in the top 8 on both sites as well.

Jacksonville is a +1 dog against Houston with a game total at 43. Houston ranks 16th in DvP and 19th overall. Hurns’ salary ranks him 24th/29th on FD and DK, respectively.

A potential issue may be the status of Blake Bortles (AC joint sprain). Best-case scenario is Bortles starts without much issue. Worst-case is Henne gets the start, but this shouldn’t effect the status of any Jacksonville WRs. Henne is a very serviceable back-up and he may have better accuracy than Bortles.

Hurns’ salary is starting to jump, but it’s still at a level to continue returning solid value.

Willie Snead (NO):

Snead registered a line of 6-141-0 on 11 targets against Philadelphia. The targets, receptions, and yards were all team highs. Snead’s scoring ranked him 9th/11th on DK/FD, respectively. His price per point efficiency ranked him 1st on DK.

New Orleans hosts Atlanta where the Saints are +3 dogs with the 2nd highest game total at 51. The Falcons are ranked 5th in DvP and 16th overall. Snead’s salary ranks 29th/62nd on FD/DK making him a great value on DK.

Tight End:

Jacob Tamme (ATL):

Tamme put up a solid line of 8-94-0 on 10 targets against Washington. Tamme’s targets, receptions, and yards were all team highs. Tamme’s scoring ranked him 4th on both DK and FD and his price per point efficiency ranked him in the top 4 as well.

Atlanta heads to New Orleans where the Falcons are -3 favorites with the 2nd highest game total at 51. New Orleans ranks 30th in DvP and 31st overall. Tamme’s salary ranks him 16th/29th on FD/DK, respectively, making him a much better value on DraftKings. With Julio Jones potentially dealing with a hamstring injury, Tamme has a similar script with HankTime, giving him a nice bump if Julio has issues.

Kicker:

FanDuel play only:

Brandon McManus (DEN):

McManus remains perfect on the season, also adding a 50+ last week. Denver is a -4 favorite in Cleveland with a 42 point total. He should be in line for a few opportunities.

Defense:

Minnesota Vikings:

Minnesota hosts Kansas City as -3.5 favorites with a game total at 44. The Vikings rank in the top 10 in fantasy points against. The Chiefs offense has the 9th worst PFF grade, and now no longer have the services of their best player. The Chiefs are sitting in the divisional cellar at 1-4, and may look to stay there.

The Chiefs lost to Chicago, at home, last week. This matchup will not be as kind. Minnesota has potential to put a fork in them this weekend and is a cheap option if looking to avoid paying up.

Cincinnati Bengals:

The Bengals head to Buffalo as -3.5 favorites with a 42.5 game total. Cincinnati ranks 7th in fantasy points against and have a PFF grade ranking them 11th in overall defense. Tyrod Tayler (MCL) is at risk of missing this game, leaving E.J. Manuel with the spot start if that ends up being the case. Either way, Cincinnati has potential for some defensive plays.
