NFL Week 7: October 19 – 23, 2017

We’ll provide some details and insights on some of the potential top daily fantasy defense/special team value plays for week 7.

Salary ranks are based on the full slate.

Betting lines are as of the time of this writing.

Defense

Los Angeles Chargers – Salaries: DraftKings (DK) – 2400, FanDuel (FD) – 4100. Los Angeles’ salary ranks them 22nd/28th on DK/FD, respectively.

The betting lines with the Broncos has the game total at 42 points with the Chargers as -1.5 point home favorites. The Broncos’ implied team total is currently at 20.25 points and the Chargers are currently at 21.75 points.

Los Angeles recorded 1 sack, 2 interceptions, and held the Raiders to 16 points in Oakland last week. The Chargers rank 5th (tied) in sacks with 18 while the Broncos rank 21st in sacks given up with 17.

The Giants dropped 4 sacks, 2 picks, 1 fumble recovery, a blocked kick, a touchdown, and held the Broncos to 10 points at Denver last week. The Broncos rank 22nd in fantasy points allowed to defenses.

The Chargers are a cheap option with a favorable matchup against a Denver offense that will be without WR Emmanuel Sanders (ankle) this week.

New Orleans Saints – Salaries: DraftKings (DK) – 3000, FanDuel (FD) – 4500. New Orleans’s salary ranks them 11th on both DK/FD.

The betting lines with the Packers has the game total at 47 points with the Saints as -6 point road favorites. The Packers’ implied team total is currently at 20.5 points and the Saints are currently at 26.5 points.

The Saints crushed with 5 sacks, 3 picks, 2 fumble recoveries, and 3 touchdowns against Detroit last week. The Saints are a top-third unit in interceptions (7) and sacks (16).

Minnesota registered 4 sacks, 3 picks, and held the Packers to 10 points in Green Bay last week. The Packers rank 20th in fantasy points allowed to defenses. The Packers also give up the most sacks (tied) with 23.

With Aaron Rodgers (collarbone) out, New Orleans will face Brett Hundley. If the game script holds, New Orleans should force Hundley to throw.

Pittsburgh Steelers – Salaries: DraftKings (DK) – 3200, FanDuel (FD) – 4500. Pittsburgh’s salary ranks them 9th/11th on DK/FD, respectively.

The betting lines with the Bengals have the game total at 41 points with the Steelers as -5.5 point home favorites. The Bengals’ implied team total is currently at 17.75 points and the Steelers are currently at 23.25 points. Cincinnati is coming off a bye.

Cincinnati ranks 28th in fantasy points against defenses. Cincinnati also coughs up the 4th most giveaways (tied) with 11 and ranks 30th in points scored (16.8/gm). Pittsburgh logged 3 sacks and held the Chiefs to 13 points in Kansas City last week in their win. Pittsburgh ranks 2nd (tied) in sacks with 20, 3rd in yards allowed (272/gm), and 4th in points allowed (17/gm). Pittsburgh offers a nice matchup this week with a relatively reasonable price tag.

Buffalo Bills – Salaries: DraftKings (DK) – 3400, FanDuel (FD) – 4500. Buffalo’s salary ranks them 6th/11th on DK/FD, respectively, making them a better relative value on FD.

No betting lines are available yet as Jameis Winston’s (shoulder) status is currently not yet official, although he does project to play. Buffalo is coming off their bye and will host Tampa Bay on Sunday.

Arizona logged 1 sack and 2 interceptions against Tampa Bay last week. Tampa Bay ranks 4th in fantasy points allowed to defenses.
Buffalo ranks 1st in points allowed (14.8), 13th in yards allowed (322.4/gm), and 4th in interceptions with 8.

Koetter stated that Winston will limit his throwing this week if he throws at all, as they try to heal his AC joint sprain in his throwing shoulder as much as possible before kickoff. If Winston does not last, backup Ryan Fitzpatrick did well in relief, posting a 102.3 passer rating last week.
